EXPLANATION OF DEDICATION OPPORTUNITIES
The Great Room "The Heichel"
The Dining Room, the heart of the house, the center stage where the light emulates - eating, learning, sharing, hand washing and candlelighting center
The Kitchen or “The Cholent Cauldron”
The kitchen's our home for creating countless Shabbat cooking and Challah baking learning experiences.
Youth Center
The Shabbat House needs to create a room for hands on toys and games, a small library to learn about Shabbat and props for interactive skits and plays for children to appreciate and enjoy the Shabbat experience through fun and song, and of course, food.
Welcoming House Guests (Hachnasat Orchim)
Our patriarch Abraham was known for his gracious and abundant hospitality. The Shabbat House will have a comfortable living room area for guests where they will be able to relax and share the Shabbat experience.
The Shabbat Table or "Shulchan Aruch"
On Shabbat the table where we dine is holy, like an altar – it represents the shulchan aruch in the Beit Hamikdash, the Holy Temple. Basically it turns an ordinary meal into an unforgettable experience of joy and unity that carries into the week ahead.
The Garden
The garden & patio for entertaining our guests
The Shabbos Candle Lighting - “Let There be Light”
A space dedicated for the kindling of the Shabbos candles to bring a new light into the world and usher in the holy day of Shabbat. When women light candles, we welcome that extra light.
Challah Baking
Challah baking, specifically, the mitzvah of “separating challah” has been a symbol of the Jewish home since biblical days when our Matriarch, Sarah, shaped challah loaves in her tent. These loaves stayed fresh all week and are the source for blessings in the world.
The Washing of the Hands – (Kiyor Laver)
(The Washing of the Hands represents the purification of the body which is connected to the service in the Holy Temple. Beautiful stations will be created for guests to wash their hands as they recite the blessing.
Shabbat Morning Beginner's Class
A small forum to learn about prayer, spirituality, and beginner’s Hebrew.
Mezuzahs - The Guardian of the Gates of Israel
Written on the outside of each parchment is the name of G-d. Among other things, this divine appellation is an abbreviation for the words "Guardian of the Gates of Israel." The mezuzah guards the doors of a Jewish home and reminds us of its sanctity.
Friday Night Dinner
Sponsors will be needed to underwrite the cost of the weekly Friday night dinner which will be an awesome meal to delight all the Shabbat guests.
Kiddush Club and JLI Learning (each week)
Sponsors will be needed to underwrite the cost of a Kiddush club where Shabbat guests come together for a special toasts or l’chaims and our famous 'Cholent' (you'll have to come to experience this) and for a short, but meaningful discussion on secrets in the Torah portion for that week based on the internationally acclaimed JLI Torah Studies- ideas that matter to you in terms of your personal growth.
